Washington Capitals and SOMD Sabres are proud to support our second-annual DMV Girls Try Hockey for Free Day on Saturday September 14, 2024 at Capital Clubhouse from 10:40 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.

Registration is open to girls ages 4-9. All necessary hockey equipment is provided and no experience is required!

This 4-week (30 min/week) program is FREE and includes the gear.  Following the program, participants may keep the gear if they enroll into the following Learn To Play Hockey program.

Participant will need to come to an equipment fitting prior to the program to receive the gear.

The Capital Clubhouse and SOMD Sabres Hockey Club have partnered to bring you Try Hockey For FREE at the rink!

Our goal is to offer a great opportunity for you or your child to try hockey with no cost or commitment before enrolling into a hockey program or lesson!

USA Hockey certified coaches will be helping guide players on the ice and help will be provided in the lobby to get geared up for a great experience!

Participants MUST BRING A HELMET, but a bike helmet will suffice.  All other equipment will be provided for use during the event.

Capital Clubhouse is proud to have Coach Jared Kaufman bring his years of goaltending experience (University of Buffalo and Buffalo Sabres Practice Squad) to the rink and hosting another Limitless Goaltending Summer Camp for our local youth athletes!

Schedule:

• 8:45-9am: Arrival in sport attire
• 9-9:30am: Off-ice stretching and conditioning
• 9:30-9:45am: Get dressed for the ice
• 9:45-11:15am: On-ice skills
• 11:15-11:30am: Get dressed in sport attire
• 11:30-12:15pm:  LUNCH (Bring your own)
• 12:15-1pm:  Chalk Talk
• 1-1:15pm: Get dressed for ice
• 1:15-2:45pm:  On-ice skills
• 2:45-3pm: Get dressed for home

Do you feel intimidated about joining your first adult hockey league?  The Novice Draft League is the place for you!

This league is designed to introduce newer players to the wonderful game of hockey and allow you to play YOUR GAME with like skilled players.

Sign up individually to become a part of the Novice Draft League and take your next step. today!

Teams will be DRAFTED after registration closes and games will be played 5v5 if numbers permit.  The season shall consist of 13 officiated games.

Goalies:

Dedicated goalies play for free.

Want to try the Goalie position, but don't want to invest in the gear just yet?  We have a loaner set available to get you onto the ice for the game!

This High School Draft Hockey League is designed to provide high school aged athletes a fun filled opportunity to compete with and against their peers within the community. All Players will register for the draft list, which will be used to form teams to compete against each other on a weekly basis. Teams will be formed with a focus on a maximum compete level for all. Each team is guaranteed 10 officiated games and a chance to compete in the playoffs for the championship.

The Foundry Adult Hockey League at Capital Clubhouse provides adult players of all skill levels the opportunity to compete in organized play within our Gold & Silver Divisions.

Seasons begin year-round and each team is guaranteed 13 regular season games, with the top 4 teams from each division making the playoffs.

All divisions are coed and open to all players over the age of 18.  Games are non-checking with referee and scorekeeper costs included in player/team fees.

Pickup games are a great way for adults of all skill levels to come together for an informal and non-officiated scrimmage. ​Checking is prohibited.​ Open to men and women ages 18 and over.​Maximum limit of 24 skaters and 4 goalies.​Teams selected and managed by participants.

Mondays at 9:30-10:50pm

Thursdays at 9:30-11:10pm

Stick & Puck sessions provide the opportunity to sharpen player skills and provide extra practice time. It's a chance to work on skating, stick handling, shooting and passing.

All ages are welcome!

Full gear is required for minors and recommended for adults.  At a minimum, adults must wear helmet, gloves, and hockey skates.

No scrimmages are permitted without management approval.

This hockey program was developed as a bridge program to take your player from hockey lessons into competitive play, offering programs at all age groups and levels.

The mission of Ice Force Hockey is to introduce Southern Maryland's youth to the great game of hockey and help develop their passion for the game that stays with them throughout their life.

Ice Force Hockey's foundation is built upon the principles of teamwork, sportsmanship, education, and respect for the game (coaches, officials, teammates, and opposition), which is instilled into every youth athlete that participates in our programs.​

Ice Force Hockey is a PVAHA affiliated program.

GET IN THE GAME!

The largest co-ed adult learn to play hockey program in the U.S.A. This program is open to adults 18+ who have never played hockey. It will combine on-ice skills sessions with instructional games. During this program, participants will learn the fundamental skills of ice hockey, including how to skate if they’ve never done so before. In addition, they will get a chance to play the greatest game on Earth.

The Sabres Rookie Program is perfect for the brand-new hockey player looking to learn the sport in a fun, active, and instructive environment.

Instruction and drills/games are designed to be 100% FUN, developing a love for the game now that will last a lifetime!

Open to boys and girls aged 4 to 15.

Each program is 7 weeks long and can be repeated.  Practices are 1 hour each week.

USA Hockey registration (not included) is required and must be provided at registration
